Our History
The story of Cooper Mechanical started with Lou Cooper Sr. At age 15, Lou began working part-time unloading trucks for a plumbing supply company during summer break. After graduating high school, he was promoted to a full-time position behind the counter selling plumbing supplies. Lou was a hard worker and took on a plumbing apprenticeship on weekends and evenings to earn extra money. As he gained experience and expertise in the field, he joined Plumbers Local 690 in Philadelphia.
In 1976, Lou and his wife Gerry founded Cooper Plumbing and Heating. Lou was responsible for the operations, while Gerry handled the administrative work. Shortly after opening their business, they added a full-service HVAC division and renamed their company Cooper Mechanical.
Over the years, Cooper Mechanical has continued to expand its services, including historical renovations. To keep up with demand, we proudly employ over 50 highly trained and skilled technicians and representatives. Cooper Mechanical also has the only retail showroom in Upper Bucks County, a comprehensive retail parts counter for professionals and DIY enthusiasts, and an expert service department.
Today, Cooper Mechanical remains a family business. Two of Lou and Gerry’s children are involved with the day-to-day running of the business. Louis Jr., a Master Plumber in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, holds a degree in both Business Management and Graphic Design from Moravian College and heads the Plumbing Division. Vicki, a graduate of Drexel University, is responsible for the accounting and everyday administration of the business. While maintaining Lou and Gerry’s principles in their practice, the next generation has helped the company expand by implementing the latest technology.
