Cooper Mechanical has been a household name to many residents of the Greater Philadelphia Area for over 40 years. Our commitment to offering high-quality products at reasonable prices has made us one of the most successful plumbing and HVAC companies in the region. Working with thousands of homeowners and small businesses across this area, we are adept at installing and servicing literally any type of plumbing, heating and cooling equipment on the market. Our extensive experience working with the townships and municipalities in this region ensures we complete projects within code, quickly and efficiently.
The Cooper Mechanical story began with Lou Cooper, Sr. At 15, Lou took a summer job unloading trucks for a plumbing supply house. After he graduated from high school, Lou was promoted to selling plumbing supplies full-time behind the counter. A go-getter, he worked as a plumber’s apprentice on the weekends and evenings to make extra money. As Lou gained experience and became an expert in the field, he joined Plumbers Local 690 in Philadelphia.
In 1976, Lou and his wife, Gerry, founded Cooper Plumbing and Heating. Lou handled the operations and Gerry was responsible for the administrative work. Soon after opening its doors, they added a full-service HVAC Division and changed their name to Cooper Mechanical Inc. The business has continued to expand since then. Services now include custom plumbing and HVAC design, historical renovations, additions, custom ductwork and fabrication, and much more. The company also boasts the only retail showroom in Upper Bucks County, comprehensive retail parts counter for professionals and DIYers, and an expert service department. Most importantly, Cooper Mechanical has grown to over 50 employees strong.
The Next Generation
Today, two of Lou & Gerry’s children are involved with the day-to-day running of the business. Louis Jr, a Master Plumber in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, holds a degree in both Business Management and Graphic Design from Moravian College and heads the Plumbing Division. Vicki, a graduate of Drexel University, is responsible for the accounting and everyday administration of the business. While maintaining Lou and Gerry’s principles in their practice, the next generation has helped the company expand by implementing the latest technology.

Most of the technicians and support staff have been with the Cooper “family” for years and in many cases, decades, which makes them Cooper Mechanical’s most valuable asset and sets the company apart from the competition. Their many years of on-the-job experience and continuous training on the latest techniques, safety regulations, and new products ensures that customers receive superior service. After all, the performance and longevity of a plumbing or HVAC system is closely tied to the quality of the installation and ongoing care of these products.
