It’s been a cold winter and your heating system has barely kept up. You find yourself wearing multi-layers of clothing in order to stay warm.  Recently, odd clicking noises have been emanating from the basement; add that to the list of odd sounds coming from your furnace.  Your hope is that Punxsutawney Phil told the truth when he predicted spring would be coming early this year so maybe you can wait until next fall to purchase that new heating system that you know you need.  Unfortunately, according to the Stormfax Weather Almanac, since 1887, Phil has only been correct 39% of the time.

Take it from The Coop!  Don’t trust your comfort to a groundhog.  All of us here in southeast Pennsylvania and the surrounding NJ suburbs have at least 8 more weeks of chilly weather left before we turn off our heaters.  Now’s the time to take stock of your equipment and decide whether it’s time for a heating makeover.  And, if your AC is just about at the end of its life, too, it may be more cost effective and convenient in the long run to replace both your heater and AC at the same time rather than go through the inconvenience of another installation, and all it entails, in a few months when the AC finally dies.

This time of year, there are other reasons that might motivate you to act now, rather than wait.   You may be able to take advantage of rich energy rebates from local power companies when you replace your heater and even better rebates when you purchase both a heater and AC. It makes sense to go on your energy provider’s website for information or call them directly.  What’s more, during the interval between the end of winter and the start of summer, heating and cooling manufacturers, like Carrier, offer special price promotions that can’t be beat the rest of the year.  Last but not least, during this time of year, it’s usually easier to schedule an installation when it’s more convenient for you.  Once the AC season starts, it’s the busiest time of year for most contractors and scheduling gets very tight as the season progresses.

I get it, replacing your heater is a big investment!  Since you need a new heater now, it makes sense to take advantage of manufacturers’ promotions and special rebates, more convenient timing, and toasty comfort.  Call a professional heating and cooling contractor, like Cooper Mechanical, who can evaluate your needs and recommend options that will warm you up and put a smile on your face!
